Discover Our Purpose
MyLawMate was born from first-hand experience of the SQE. Having gone through the process myself, I know just how overwhelming and stressful it can be. I created the resources I wish I'd had, with one clear goal: to make your preparation that little bit easier.
A Gap Between Promise and Reality
When the SRA introduced the SQE, one of its headline promises was greater accessibility to the legal profession. In practice, however, that promise has not yet been fulfilled. The cost of preparing for and sitting the SQE can be prohibitive, prep courses, textbooks, and the exams themselves create a significant financial burden.
What struck me most was the serious lack of practice materials available for SQE2 candidates. The SRA has released few sample questions, and keeps information close to their chest, and course providers seem to focus on SQE1 questions. This gap leaves students with two options: pay extortionate rates for mock questions, or go without sufficient practice altogether. Neither felt acceptable.
