Founder Story
The year before my training contract, my firm gave me a choice: the LPC or the SQE. I chose the SQE — a deliberate decision to take the newer, more rigorous route to qualification. What I did not anticipate was what that choice would cost me in practice.
My firm did not fund my preparation. I paid for a course with one of the major SQE providers out of my own student loan, and still found myself unable to afford the additional practice materials I needed. The provider charged over £12,000 for full preparation courses. Beyond that, quality supplementary resources are scarce, expensive, or both. I sat the exam having done what I could with what I had, and I passed — but I knew the preparation experience could have been far better.
MyLawMate is the answer to the question I kept asking during that process: why isn't there a high-quality, affordable alternative? The materials I have built are the ones I wish I had found when I needed them most. Realistic, exam-focused, and priced so that your result is not determined by your budget.
Credentials
I graduated with a first class LLB from a Russell Group university and have passed both SQE1 and SQE2. I am currently undertaking a training contract at a law firm.
MyLawMate's materials are not written by academics or course designers who have never sat the exam. They are written by someone with the academic grounding to understand the law deeply, and the recent practical experience to know exactly how it needs to be applied under timed assessment conditions. That combination — rigorous legal training and first-hand knowledge of the SQE — is what every question in the range is built on.
